Blame Ugly Flowers and Weeds for Sniffling and Sneezing

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – If you’re still sniffling and sneezing, blame the ugly flowers and weeds. Vanderbilt Allergist Robert Valet says the uglier the plant the more trouble it causes. This includes ragweed, mug wort, plantain and pig weed. Dr. Valet says insects are attracted to the pretty flowers and pollinate them. The ugly flowers however disperse their pollen in the wind which causes the allergic reaction.
